- Preflight - finds document flaws causuing print problems at service bureau
- Proof - printed representation, mark mistakes, sign-off responsible at press
- Package - preflights, outputs folder containing linked fonts, graphics (can also export PDF which includes all "Package" materials but in one single file)
- Press - Check first runs, intensity of color, CMYK accuracy, costly step
