- Conceive and visualize aesthetic solutions, enrich visual communicationa and expand the creative potential.
- Experience an overview of the design industry and methods of graphic design and visual communications.
- Understand the use and application of traditional, analog and digital graphic design production tools.
- Immerse completely within the design process having an emphasis on realizing concepts and visuals.
- Define the various job categories that make up the graphic design industry.
- Discuss ethical and legal issues as they relate to the graphic design industry.
- Define basic terminology used in the graphic design industry and its related fields.
- Define visual communication and related components.
- Demonstrate proper usage of graphic design tools, equipment and materials.

- Demonstrate knowledge of composition and layout including aesthetic arrangement, placement and relationship of elements.

- While ADOBE Acrobat, ADOBE Bridge, ADOBE Illustrator, ADOBE InDesign and ADOBE Photoshop software (or any other application) may be used, this is a PATHTM and STORY class focused most on D3SIGNTM.
- Experience is by reflection, inspiration, opportunity, ideas (the muse) and bringing the intangible to life.
- Project: Develop two images in one, a global message of importance, that containing eight devisive pieces.
- The sum of the whole is greater than the parts.
- In the process of solving a macro (10,000 foot view) and micro (individul cards) design solution by creating a card series, learn and use an appropriate medium, traditional and/or software tools, complete with a respective packaging solution.
- This assignment must have a design solution that stretches with continuity across four levels
- 1. Personal - represent an image, iconography, something meaningful to you.
- 2. Individual - Have an effective design solution that works stand alone for each individual 5x7 inch card (each card works alone independent of the set).
- 3. Set - Have a combined solution requiring an arrangement of all eight cards, providing a holistic interpretation; the sum becomes much more than the parts.
- 4. Packaging - Consider an overall premium wrapping and overall presentation.

- Cover:
- The cover page will represent a clever diagramatic arrangement of the eight 5x7 cards.
- Blocking:
- Draw two aligned blocks, each proportionate in size and equally spaced. Correlate each block with heading.
- "Card 1", "Card 2". Illustrate card layouts within each block. Visualize a distinct design solution.
