- How to proceed through the course: This course is organized as a progressive, tasked, learning-based Digital Media project with two important resource areas: 5FUNNELTM and PATHTM. Begin within the 5FUNNELTM which communicates a top-down, methodical, step by step progression through this course, its project tasks, "work packages" and/or deliverables and exams. By first reviewing the posted materials such as the SYLLABUS, KICKOFF, SCHEDULE, Study Notes, Deliverables Due, and text readings, proceed to discussion questions, the MIDTERM and ENDTERM and outside web links.
- Glossary: An alphabetical list of terms defined in the D2L website. You can either scroll up and down the list until you find the term you are looking for or you can use the "Alphabet Search" (A, B, C, D, etc.) to jump to the general alphabet area of the term to speed up your search.
- Resources: For assistance regarding the D2L interface select the “Help” link or: http://class.daytonastate.edu/content/DPT/FLON/academy/Navigation_Only.pdf
- Course Content Module: The “Content” link in D2L contains expandable, collapsible menus, housing all course information within the two distinct 5FUNNELTM and PATHTM modules.
- Grade Book: Access grades when you want to check how you are doing academically. Here you will be able to see your marks on the individual assignments that you submit. If your evaluator makes any comments about your assignments, you will be able to view them here as well. By selecting 'view stats' for the individual assignment, you will be able to see the class average, and a graphical representation of your mark in comparison to others.
- Communication: Communication tools available within Florida Online include the internal D2L email, your personal Internet email account, discussion boards, and chat.
- Students may expect responses to phone and email within three (3) business days.
- Students may expect assignment grades within one (1) week after submission.
- Students must login to Florida Online every 48 hours.
- To receive a final course grade, students MUST communicate with the instructor and classmates posting at least once each week in the respective discussion forums.
- No chats will be required towards your final grade.
- Interaction: The final deliverable labeled RECAP includes evidence of discussion in forums. Without regular weekly attendance and content relevant participation in the discussion forums a ZERO will be recorded for a student’s final RECAP assignment. The forums have been created to parallel your project deliverables, the course progression itself and the PATHTM materials available to you. There exist five distinct phases throughout the PATHTM (or lifecycle) of a project. The respective phasesand forums are labeled:
Classroom Policy (Rules and Regulations):
Florida Online D2L course tools include the following:
Handling of assignments: Within the 5FUNNELTM module, deliverables and exam deadlines will be specified in the SYLLABUS. Submit deliverables through the respective labeled "DROPBOX".
Unless previously instructed, assignments submitted in the wrong DROPBOX by traditional mail, email or public post will NOT be accepted and will be recorded as a ZERO. Only the potentially available “end-of-semester” Extra Credit will be accepted by USPS, UPS, Fed Ex, DHL, or similar postal services (see “GRADING” policy below and the RECAP assignment).
For example, throughout the semester, there will be a total of five deliverables each with a respective DROPBOX for each submission deadline.
Students MUST use the respective DROPBOX for each deliverable:
The curriculum involves the following phases D1SCOVER, D2FINE, D3SIGN, D4VELOP, D5LIVER which represent cyclic, recurrent project management phases depicting a specific set of milestones and deliverables. “D1SCOVER” involves both a KICKOFF and SCHEDULE. “D2FINE” involves both an SOW and CONTRACT. “D3SIGN” involves establishing a communicable language identifying STORY and MIDTERM. “D4VELOP” involves a PROTOTYPE and PROOF. “D5LIVER” involves ENDTERM and RECAP, often leading to another set of projects altogether. And hence, this project or another's PATHTM (or life-cycle) may begin again.
